Ohio Issue 1: Election results for the August 2023 special election

Voters will decide in an Aug. 8 special election whether they support Issue 1, a measure which would:

  • Require 60% of voters to pass a new constitutional amendment, instead of a simple majority of 50% plus one.

  • Require citizens who want to place an amendment on the ballot to collect signatures from at least 5% of voters from the last gubernatorial election in all 88 counties, instead of the current 44.

  • Eliminate a 10-day cure period that allows citizens to replace any signatures deemed faulty by the secretary of state's office.

Polls are open until 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 8. Election results should start to come in shortly after polls close.

With early voting results and 100% of today’s in-person precincts reporting:

Yes: 33.89%

No: 66.11%

With early voting results and 100% of today’s in-person precincts reporting:

Yes: 47.52%

No: 52.48%

Issue 1 results for Portage County only

With early voting results and 100% of today’s in-person precincts reporting:

Yes: 42.06%

No: 57.94%

Issue 1 results for Medina County only

With early voting results and 100% of today’s in-person precincts reporting:

Yes: 45.76%

No: 54.24%

With early voting results and 100% of today’s in-person precincts reporting:

Yes: 58.48%

No: 41.52%
