Ohio issues recall on medical marijuana edibles over tamper-proof seal defect
The state of Ohio issued a recall Thursday for a brand of marijuana edibles sold at dispensaries across the state.
The Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program, which regulates the sale of medicinal marijuana in the Department of Commerce, received a report from the Columbus-based cannabis processing company BeneLeaves Limited that its "Smokiez Sweet Tropical Fruit Gummies" edibles have a defective tamper-evident seal on several of its packages.
The advisory applies to that particular flavor of Smokiez sold between Sept. 15, 2023, and Dec. 27, 2023.
The MMCP noted that no adverse side effects have been noted or reported and that this particular strain has passed all required testing. Officials advise that patients who may have bought these products ensure that the tamper-evident seal is secure before use.
Any product found with a defective seal should be returned to the dispensary where it was purchased.
