Ohio man charged with stalking, harassing ex, intimidating witnesses

HILLSDALE — A Findlay, Ohio, man was arrested on a multitude of criminal allegations for stalking and harassing an ex-girlfriend and her parents Thursday, Jan. 5.

John Kevin Buoy, 46, was arraigned in 2B District Court on Jan. 6 on two counts of intentionally distributing sexually explicit material, three counts of malicious use of a telecommunications device, two counts of stalking, two counts of tampering with witnesses and placing a tracking device on a motor vehicle.

The alleged crimes were said to have taken place between April and May 2022 and started after Buoy and his ex-girlfriend’s relationship ended.

Buoy is alleged to have placed an Apple Air Tag on his ex-girlfriend’s car to track her location and sent nude photographs of her to her parents to intimidate them and attempt to persuade them to talk her into dropping charges against him.

In total, Buoy faces up to four years in prison for tampering with witnesses and up to one year in jail on all of the remaining allegations which are classified as misdemeanors in the state of Michigan.

Bond in the matters was set at $72,000 with 10 percent allowed and posted shortly after Buoy’s arraignment.

He is due back in 2B District Court for a probable cause conference at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18.
