Ohio man charged with threatening NC Senator, family

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — An Ohio man is facing charges after the North Carolina General Assembly Police Department reported he threatened a state senator and the senator’s wife.

According to his arrest warrant, 38-year-old Nicolas Alan Daniels of West Portsmouth, Ohio is facing 10 counts of communicating threats and two counts of felony threatening an executive legal court officer.

On Oct. 12, 2023, Daniels threatened to kill North Carolina Senator Todd Johnson, warrants issued in Nov. 2023 said. Johnson is a Republican representing Cabarrus and Union County. Warrants said Daniels sent Johnson a Facebook message that read, “I’ll kill you” followed by an expletive.
