An Ohio man died and six others were injured in a Friday afternoon wreck in Greene County.

Alabama troopers said the crash, which occurred at 1:03 p.m. on Interstate 20/59, involved three vehicles: a 2013 BMW SW, a 2009 Ford Escape and a 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer.

The BMW and the Ford Escape collided, according to troopers, and then the BMW struck the tractor-trailer.

Dustin J. Kirk, 37, of Akron, Ohio, was the driver of the BMW and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Three passengers in Kirk's BMW were taken to Druid City Regional Medical Center for treatment: 32-year-old Shala T. Cade of Akron, Ohio and 30-year-old Samantha R. Davis and 33-year-old Shane C. Kirk, both of Painesville, Ohio.

The Ford Escape was driven by 24-year-old Haley L. Easterling of Waynesboro, Mississippi. Three passengers in the Ford Escape — an 11-month-old, a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old — were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The tractor-trailer was driven by 51-year-old Larry D. Franklin of Vance.

The crash occurred about 4 miles south of Boligee.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division are investigating.
