Ohio Report Cards: Highest, lowest scoring districts in Miami Valley counties

Thursday the Ohio Department of Education released its Ohio School Report Cards for the 2021-2022 school year.

The report cards include five rated components and various report-only data, those components will receive ratings from one to five stars, according to a guide released by the Ohio Board of Education.

The components include:

  • Achievement

  • Progress

  • Early Literacy

  • Gap Closing

  • Graduation

  • College, Career, Workforce and Military Readiness

Districts and schools will not receive overall star ratings this year, the release said.

News Center 7 looked through districts in the Miami Valley and found the schools that scored among the highest and the lowest in each county based on their achievement component star rating.

In Montgomery County Trotwood Madison, Jefferson Township and Dayton City districts all received a one star rating. While Oakwood and Brookville scored the highest with a five star rating.

Southeastern district in Clark County ranked at the top with a four star rating with Springfield rating the lowest with a two star.

In Greene County Bellbrook-Sugarcreek and Beavercreek each scored a five star rating — Xenia and Fairborn scored the lowest with a three.

Four districts in Mercer County scored a five star rating — Coldwater Exempted Village, Marion, St. Henry Consolidated and Fort Recovery. The county’s lowest scoring district was Celina with a three star rating.

Miami East, Newton and Tipp City all got five stars in Miami County with the lowest being Bradford Exempted Village scoring two.

No districts in Preble County received a five star rating. The highest rating was a four star by Eaton Community with Preble Shawnee scoring at the bottom for the county with two.

In Darke County Versailles Exempted Village was the only school in the district to receive a five star rating, while Greenville was the lowest with a three star.

A total of six districts in Shelby County scored five stars including Anna , Botkins, Farilawn, Fort Loramie, Jackson Center and Russia. Sidney scored the lowest with at three stars.

Two districts in Champaign County received a three star rating — Urbana and Graham. The three others districts in the county received a four star — Mechanicsburg, Triad and West Liberty-Salem. No districts scored a five star.

Auglaize County had three districts with a five star rating — Minister, New Bremen and New Knoxville. One district had a three star rating — Waynesfield-Goshen.
