Ohio State Buckeyes fall to Nebraska Cornhuskers in Big Ten softball semifinal

Olivia Ferrell's RBI double scored Ava Bredwell to give Nebraska a 2-1 victory over Ohio State in the semifinals of the Big Ten softball tournament Friday in East Lansing, Michigan.

Bredwell led off the inning with a double. After a strikeout, Ferrell hit the ball beyond the Buckeyes outfielders to end the game. OSU, the No. 6 seed, is 35-15.

Nebraska (39-14), the No. 2 seed, will face either No. 1 Northwestern or No. 4 Michigan in the championship game at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Each team scored a run in the fourth inning. OSU's Kami Kortokrax reached base on a fielding error. Taylor Pack reached on a fielder's choice and scored on a triple by Meggie Otte. In the bottom of the inning, Abbie Squier's RBI single scored Sydney Gray.

Otte had two hits for the Buckeyes. Each team had six hits. Buckeyes pitcher Lexie Handley struck out six and walked two while two Nebraska pitchers managed only one strikeout combined.
