Ohio State football adds safety Jayden Bonsu to 2023 class
Ohio State football filled its third safety spot in the 2023 class on Sunday.
Jayden Bonsu, a four-star safety out of Hillsdale, New Jersey, committed to the Buckeyes over Michigan State, Penn State, Alabama and Miami.
Bonsu, who stands at 6 feet 1, 210 pounds, is the No. 259 player and the No. 22 safety in the 2023 class and is the No. 4 prospect out of New Jersey.
Last season for St. Peter's Prep, Bonsu had 62 tackles, 7.5 tackles-for-loss, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and two interceptions at safety.

He joins four-star Malik Hartford and four-star Cedrick Hawkins as the Buckeyes' commits in the 2023 class that are set to join Perry Eliano's room. Five-star Caleb Downs chose Alabama instead of the Buckeyes.
After the 2022 season, Ohio State could be forced to replace all three of its safety positions, with Josh Proctor and Tanner McCalister entering their fifth seasons of eligibility, and Ronnie Hickman coming into his fourth with expectations to be one of the key contributors in defensive coordinator Jim Knowles' "safety-driven" defense.
Behind Proctor, McCalister and Hickman, the Buckeyes have seven scholarship safeties, including Kye Stokes and Sonny Styles, two safeties from the 2022 class.
Bonsu is the first New Jersey native to join Ohio State's recruiting class since Luke Wypler and Cody Simon in the 2020 class.
Bonsu took an official visit at Ohio State June 17-19.
He is the most recent defensive commit for Ohio State, joining four-star linebacker Arvell Reese and four-star defensive lineman Jason Moore.
