Ohio State football tied with Tennessee at No. 2 in Associated Press poll
Ohio State is no longer in sole possession of the No. 2 ranking in the Associated Press poll.
In the latest top 25 released Sunday, it was tied with Tennessee for the spot behind top-ranked Georgia.
The teams each had 1,500 vote points and maintained a narrow margin behind the Bulldogs who held 1,528 points.
The Volunteers, who had only two first-place votes in the poll last week, picked up 16 after their 44-6 rout of Kentucky in prime time. The Buckeyes received 15 first-place votes after their comeback win at Penn State, while Georgia has 30.
The order of the top-three teams did not change in the coaches poll with the Bulldogs at the top, followed by Ohio State at No. 2 and Tennessee at No. 3.
They likely won’t be entrenched for long. Georgia is hosting Tennessee next weekend when the SEC East teams meet in Athens.
Michigan remained at No. 4 in both polls, followed by Clemson at No. 5. Texas Christian, the only other remaining unbeaten team from a Power Five conference, is seventh behind sixth-ranked Alabama.
