The preseason hype continues for C.J. Stroud.

The Ohio State redshirt sophomore was one of 35 quarterbacks on the Davey O'Brien Award watch list, given to the best college football quarterback each season.

Stroud is one of five Big Ten quarterbacks listed along with Penn State's Sean Clifford, Purdue's Aidan O'Connell, Maryland's Tauila Tagovailoa and Michigan State's Payton Thorne.

Stroud was a finalist for the award in 2021 along with Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett and Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, who took home the Davey O'Brien Award and the 2021 Heisman Trophy.

The list will be updated throughout the season with the additions of weekly "Great 8" quarterback nominees. The midseason watch list of contenders for the Davey O'Brien Award will be released Oct. 18.

Stroud also made the watch list for the Maxwell Award, given to college football's player of the year, along with sophomore running back TreVeyon Henderson and junior wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Ohio State was the only team to have three players on the Maxwell Award watch list.

Ohio State will open the season against Notre Dame Sept. 3.
