Maxwell Moldovan's run at the men's U.S. Amateur tournament ended in the Round of 16.

Dylan Menante finished 1 up on the Ohio State junior in the match play event at Arcola Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey.

Moldovan, a Uniontown native, earned unanimous first-team All-Big Ten and PING third-team All-American honors after leading the Buckeyes in scoring with a 71.03 over 36 rounds and 12 events last season. It's the lowest single-season scoring average in the Ohio State program since 1980.

Moldovan also qualified for the U.S. Open this summer, the program's first qualifier since Will Grimmer in 2018. He and former Ohio State golfer Bo Hoag, an Upper Arlington native, missed the cut in Brookline, Massachusetts.

Garrett Wood, a Mason native, advanced to the round of 64 at the U.S. Amateur before falling to South Africa's Christo Lamprecht, who was 1 up after 18 holes.

Troy Taylor II of Westerville missed the cut in the playoff round. Taylor shot 153 through two rounds – 78 in the first and 75 in the second. He needed a 146 or better to advance.
