Ohio State joins Michigan as Big Ten programs to score 45 points in five-straight games

Ohio State football's offense is doing things the Big Ten Conference has not seen since the 1940s.

With the Buckeyes' 49-point performance through the first three quarters against Michigan State, Ohio State became the first Big Ten team to score 45-plus points per game in five straight games since Michigan in 1945-46.

Michigan's streak began Nov. 23, 1946 against Ohio State, beating the Buckeyes 58-6 at Ohio Stadium. It lasted through the first four games of the 1947 season against Michigan State, Stanford, Pitt and Northwestern.

After Ohio State's 21-point performance to open the season against then-No. 5 Notre Dame, the Buckeyes' offense came into East Lansing averaging 55.8 points in each of its last four games.

Through the first five weeks of the 2022 season, Ohio State had both the No. 1 scoring offense and the No. 3 total offense in college football, averaging 48.8 points and 529.6 yards per game.
