Ohio State LB Tommy 'two thumbs' Eichenberg 'absolutely snubbed' for Butkus Award
Tommy Eichenberg made his impact known in the first half of Ohio State vs. Michigan.
The Ohio State linebacker has two tackles and a broken up pass in the first half against the Wolverines, play that got the attention of FOX play-by-play announcer Gus Johnson and color commentator Joel Klatt.
"Tommy two thumbs," Klatt called the Ohio State linebacker, saying Eichenberg is playing with two broken thumbs for the Buckeyes' defense.
But even more than playing hurt, Klatt said Eichenberg isn't getting the attention nationally that he deserves.

"This dude, I'm telling you what," Klatt said. "He was absolutely snubbed by the Butkus Award. he has over 100 tackles and is one of the best linebackers for Ohio State, which has had a great turnaround defensively under Jim Knowles this year. You can see why he's so important."
In the first 11 games of the 2022 season, Eichenberg has 105 tackles, 12 tackles-for-loss and 2.5 sacks, adding one interception returned for a touchdown and two pass deflections.
Arkansas' Drew Sanders, Iowa's Jack Campbell, Georgia's Jamon Dumas-Johnson, Washington State's Daiyan Henley and Cincinnati Ivan Pace Jr. were named as the 2022 Butkus Award finalists, given to the top linebacker in college football.
Andy Katzenmoyer (1997) and James Laurinaitis (2007) each won the Butkus Award for Ohio State.
