Ohio State men’s volleyball earns No. 1 ranking after marquee weekend

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Ohio State’s men’s volleyball team had a monumental weekend in Austin, Texas and are coming out of it the best team in the country.

The Buckeyes have moved up to the No. 1 ranking in the AVCA coaches poll after beating former No. 1 UCLA and taking out No. 13 USC over the weekend. Ohio State has started the season 6-0 and needed a two-set comeback to upset the Bruins on Saturday and won in five sets again over the Trojans.

This is the first time in six years that the Buckeyes men’s volleyball team has been ranked No. 1.

Ohio State will return to the court on Thursday as they host No. 9 Penn State at the Covelli Center at 6 p.m. Last season, the Nittany Lions knocked out the Buckeyes in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals. OSU has not won a national championship since 2017.
