Report: Ohio State QB commit Quinn Ewers ponders early enrollment to capitalize on name, image and likeness

With the allure of name, image and likeness in the forefront of collegiate athletics, more top recruits are seeing vast opportunities to monetize on their brands, bring more exposure to their schools and also get companies and agents more chances to hop on the bandwagon.

A report from Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday looked at Quinn Ewers, a quarterback who attends Carroll High School in Southlake, Texas, a suburb of Dallas.

For Ewers, 18 and the top-ranked quarterback in the 2022 class, the decision to play his senior season or graduate early and enroll at Ohio State early is a difficult one.

"I don’t really know, I don’t have a final decision made quite yet,” Ewers told Yahoo! “I’m leaning toward leaving and going up to Ohio, just so I don’t have to deal with UIL [University Interscholastic League] stuff and can get comfortable with Ohio and Columbus and start to learn.”

Ewers is expected to make his decision soon. Ohio State's fall camp starts Aug. 3 and the Buckeyes open the season at Minnesota on Sept. 2, before Oregon visits on Sept. 11. The Buckeyes do not have a clear-cut starter heading into the season after Justin Fields was taken in the NFL draft.

One factor that Ewers says won't be involved in his decision making?

"We don’t need the money,” Ewers said. “It’s just the principle of it.”
