'This Ohio State team is built to run.' ESPN's Pat McAfee impressed by Buckeyes

Pat McAfee likes Michigan football in 2022.

On ESPN's "College GameDay," the former Indianapolis Colts punter and college football analyst took notice of what the Wolverines did against Penn State.

But to him, Ohio State is playing at a different level.

"You have to start thinking J.J. (McCarthy), Blake Corum, are the going to be a squad?" McAfee said. "Then you turn on the Ohio State tape and then you start to do a little looking at the analytics, Ohio State has so many weapons. They were able to survive with guys out, they have made new stars, Ryan Day seems to have figured it out with C.J. Stroud.

"I love that Ohio State team. And the North doesn't have many dogs at the end of the season normally. This Ohio State team is built to run."

Desmond Howard has issues with Ohio State's schedule

Desmond Howard said Ohio State football has become one of the most impressive teams in college football through its first six games of the season.

But he still doesn't think the Buckeyes have faced anyone.

"You talk about schedule, the Buckeyes' schedule is kind of weak too," the former Michigan wide receiver and Heisman Trophy winner said. "They have only taken one trip out of Columbus and that was to East Lansing, beat up old Sparty and came back to Columbus.

"But I give credit where credit is due. They have taken carer of business. They don't play down to the levels of opponents, and I respect that. If you are supposed to steamroll your opponent, do it, and that's what the Buckeyes have been able to do."

To Howard's answer, former Ohio State quarterback and ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit asked him about his alma mater.

"And Michigan played?" Hebrstreit asked, followed by seconds of distinct silence.

"You have suddenly morphed into they have played nobody," ESPN's "College GameDay" host Rece Davis said.

Herbstreit did mention two potential "slip ups" for Ohio State and Michigan the week before the rivals face off, saying that the Buckeyes' matchup against Maryland the the Wolverines' game against Illinois could be two games to watch heading into the final game of the regular season.
