Ohio State capped off undefeated 2012 campaign with Michigan win

While Ohio State was ineligible to play in the Big Ten championship game and play in a bowl game after an NCAA investigation found that players received improper benefits under coach Jim Tressel, the Buckeyes still made a splash in 2012.

Heading into coach Urban Meyer's first Michigan game, the No. 4 Buckeyes were undefeated, earning wins against Michigan State, Indiana, Purdue and Wisconsin that were decided by less than 10 points.

The Buckeyes' matchup with the Wolverines was no different, trailing 21-20 at the end of the first half after allowing two touchdowns to quarterback Devin Gardner and Denard Robinson, while Ohio State's scores came from running back Carlos Hyde and quarterback Braxton Miller to wide receiver Corey Brown.

In the second half, Zach Boren, Ryan Shazier and the rest of the Ohio State defense shut Michigan's offense out, finishing the game with seven tackles-for-loss and four sacks, while allowing 279 total yards.

Ohio State only needed two field goals from kicker Drew Basil in the second half to secure the 26-21 win, giving the Buckeyes their seventh perfect season in school history and their first since winning a national championship in 2002.
