Ohio State women set to face UConn in Sweet 16 on Saturday in Seattle
Ohio State's Sweet 16 matchup is set.
The No. 3 seed Buckeyes, who beat No. 6 North Carolina 71-69 on Monday after senior point guard Jacy Sheldon made the game-winning shot with 1 second left, will play No. 2 UConn at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. The game will be on ABC.
If Ohio State manages to pull off the upset against the Huskies, it would play the winner of No. 1 Virginia Tech and No. 4 Tennessee on Monday, at a time to be determined. The Buckeyes opened the season against Tennessee in early November and won 87-75.
For the 2023 women's NCAA Tournament, there are just two regional sites, as opposed to the four sites in years past. Half of the Sweet 16 field will play in Seattle and the other half will play in Greenville, South Carolina.
The other two Sweet 16 games in Seattle are on Friday; No. 2 Iowa will face No. 6 Colorado at 7:30 p.m. ET, and No. 5 Ole Miss will play No. 8 Louisville at 10 p.m.
In Greenville, national championship favorite No. 1 South Carolina will play in front of essentially a home crowd — Greenville is just 100 miles from Columbia — against No. 4 UCLA on Saturday at 2 p.m. Maryland, Notre Dame, LSU, Utah, Miami and Villanova round out the rest of the Sweet 16 field.
The women's Final Four is in Dallas, with the two games set for Friday, March 31. The national championship is Sunday, April 2.
