Ohio woman suffers shark bite in Daytona Beach Shores

A shark bit a 40-year-old Ohio woman swimming in the ocean in Daytona Beach Shores on Saturday, Volusia County Beach Safety Ocean Rescue officials said.

The shark bite incident was reported at 1:12 p.m. in the 3300 block of Atlantic Ave, beach officials said.

According to News-Journal reports, this is the fifth shark bite reported in Volusia County this year.

The visitor from Ohio was wading in waist-deep water when she was bit in the lower left leg, presumably by a shark, said Ocean Rescue Capt. Laura Warner.
