High school football Week 8:Greater Cincinnati takeaways

Week 9 high school football schedule:Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky schedule

Division I

Moeller remains the top overall seed in the state of Ohio and the Crusaders are one of seven Southwest Ohio schools who have clinched spots regardless of how they fare in the next two games. Moeller's current pairing in the No. 1/No. 16 game would be Lakota East.

Moeller remains undefeated heading to a showdown with No. 2 Lakewood St. Edward on Saturday.

Possible matchups of note: No. 8 seed Mason is slotted to face No. 9 St. Xavier right now. Any game featuring the Greater Miami Conference vs. the Greater Catholic League-South is usually the price of admittance. Another GMC fan favorite could be Lakota West as the No. 3 seed squaring off with No. 14 Colerain. Lakota West coach Tom Bolden's last game at Colerain was in the Division I state championship where the Cardinals were state runners-up. Shortly after, he was hired as head coach of Lakota West after 12 years of leading his alma mater.

Possible matchup of note: As the No. 1 seed, Winton Woods would currently play the No. 16 La Salle. A year ago, they played twice with the Lancers winning in the regular season, then the Warriors taking the playoff game. Possible matchup of note: Western Brown is 7-1 after defeating last year's Division IV champion Clinton-Massie. The Broncos have a tough 5-3 Wilmington team this Friday. Also two very different offenses would clash if No. 7 New Richmond vs. No. 10 Monroe were to play as currently slotted. The Lions have the No. 2 passer in the SBAAC (behind Western Brown's Drew Novak) in A.J. Metzger. Monroe's Elijah Jackson has 1,091 rushing yards and the Hornets rarely throw.
