Oil Belt advances to Little League Junior League World Series

The Oil Belt Junior League baseball team is headed back to the Junior League Little League World Series after capturing a 7-1 win against Columbus, Texas in the Southwest Regional Tournament championship game on Tuesday in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Oil Belt finished 3-0 during the regional tournament with a win against North Valley Little League and two victories against Columbus, the Texas East regional champions. The Junior squad, compiled of players from Calallen and Tuloso-Midway, outscored its opponents 55-8 with their largest margin of victory coming in a 27-7 win against North Valley.

Oil Belt advances to the Junior Little League World Series for the first time since 2014 and the third time in 10 seasons.

The Junior Little League World Series is scheduled for Aug. 14-21 in Taylor, Michigan. Oil Belt will face a TBA team at 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 15 and the game will be aired on ESPN+.
