Oil Belt squad to play for U.S. Championship at Junior League World Series

TAYLOR, Mich. — The Oil Belt junior league squad continues to let its bats do the talking at the Junior League World Series.

The Oil Belt squad scored seven runs in the fifth inning to break open a tight game against the East Region champions from Pennsylvania, and take a convincing 10-3 victory.

During that inning, Jace Arriaga, the No. 9 hitter in the lineup, hit a grand slam to break the game open.

Oil Belt advances to the U.S. Championship and will face either the East Region champ of Clinton County, Pennsylvania against or the Southeast Region champion from South Riding, Virginia. The game is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

Oil Belt smacked eight hits in the game as Blake Quinn and Lucas Saenz each had two hits. Along with Arriaga and his four RBI thanks to his home run, Zaccariah Morales drove in two runs, and Quinn, Saenz, Drayton Mitchell and Dallin DeBallas also drove in single runs.

The Oil Belt squad also displayed some defensive prowess, picking off two runners with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh to secure the victory.
