“There are no victims. The fire is contained. All special services are working on the spot,” Starovoit wrote.

It was the third such attack in Russia by unidentified drones in a period of about 24 hours: On the morning of Dec. 5, an unknown aircraft crashed on the runway of the Engels-1 airfield in Russia’s Saratov Oblast.

It was reported that two Tu-95 strategic bombers were damaged in the attack. The air base at Engels is one of the ones from which Russia launches bombers to fire cruise missiles at Ukraine in its campaign to destroy Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure.

In addition, a gasoline tanker caught fire at Diaghilev airfield near Ryazan, resulting in an explosion.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that as a result of the incidents at the airfields, three Russian servicemen were killed and four more were injured.
