Okaloosa commissioner among Gov. DeSantis CareerSource Florida Board of Directors appointees

TALLAHASSEE — Okaloosa County Commissioner Mel Ponder was among seven people Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Tuesday to serve on the CareerSource Florida board of directors.

The other appointees were Abraham “Abe” Alangaden, Erick Arroyo, Bayne Beecher, Brian Sartain, Meredith Stanfield and Rep. Dana Trabulsy.

In addition to being a county commissioner, Ponder is the president and chief executive officer of Business Empowered Inc. and the government affairs director for the Emerald Coast Association of Realtors. He also is a member of the Destin, Fort Walton Beach, and Crestview chambers of commerce.

Ponder earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Florida State University.
