Okaloosa County schools recognized as high-performing by Florida State Board of Education

The Okaloosa County School District was named to the Florida State Board of Education's recently released list of Academically High-Performing School Districts for the 2021-2022 school year.

The OCSD is one of 14 districts deemed academically high performing out of 67 districts statewide.

To be considered academically high-performing, a school district must demonstrate its ability to maintain or improve upon its previous accomplishments.

The "A" rating is not the only criterion for the award. A high-performing district cannot have any schools earning an "F" rating. The district must adhere to class size expectations and must pass an audit that determines the financial health of the district.

"We are thrilled to be named a high-performing district once again," Superintendent Marcus Chambers said in a news release. "Such accolades are always appreciated and celebrated; however, we remain focused on future success through our commitment to continuous improvement. One of our many goals is to ensure the next generation of Okaloosa students receives the finest education possible. Our students perennially give their best and deserve our best in return."

The OCSD has earned the distinction in 11 of the previous 13 years, including nine consecutive years.
