VALPARAISO - The Okaloosa County School District announced on Thursday that the U.S. Department of Education's Blue Ribbon Schools Program has recognized the Okaloosa STEMM Academy as a National Blue Ribbon School.

The Academy is one of 353 schools nationwide and 14 in Florida to receive the honor. Okaloosa STEMM Academy received the recognition because of its overall academic performance and progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups, according to a school district news release.

“This recognition not only highlights the hard work and dedication of our students but also acknowledges the outstanding efforts put forth by our incredible teachers and staff,” STEMM Academy Principal Scheree Martin said in a news release. “It is a reflection of the strong partnerships we have formed with parents and the support we receive from our community stakeholders and district team.”
