Oklahoma Christmas Show kicks off the holiday season

The first-ever Oklahoma Christmas Show, featuring more than 200 exhibitors, is coming to the OKC Fairgrounds on Friday, Nov. 11, through Sunday, Nov. 13, at the Bennett Event Center, 3101 Gordon Cooper Blvd. Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt will be there to cut the ribbon on opening morning just before the doors open at 10 a.m. at the south entrance of the Bennett center.

Exhibitors will offer seasonal decor, wine tasting, apparel, jewelry, toys, housewares, leather goods, kitchen items, hand-made soaps and toiletries, preservative-free beef jerky, DIY gourmet kits, delicious holiday treats and more great gift ideas from local businesses.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $8 at the door, and $6 online. Seniors (60+) and military members pay $5 for tickets with a valid ID. Kids 12 years and under attend for free with an adult.

'Million Dollar Quartet Christmas' coming to OCCC

"Million Dollar Quartet Christmas," the heartwarming holiday rock ‘n’ roll musical will be performed at 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Oklahoma City Community College’s Visual and Performing Arts Center Theater, 7777 S May Ave.

You will enjoy a tale of family, nostalgia, faith, humor, heartbreak and revelry as you take a journey through a story of Christmas past, present and future.

There will be performances of classic holiday hits and favorite chart toppers such as “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Blue Christmas,” “Santa Claus is Comin’ To Town,” “Ring of Fire,” “Santa Baby,” “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” “Run Run Rudolph” and more.

Fight the flu with the Oklahoma Caring Vans

The Oklahoma Caring Vans are helping to fight the spread of the flu virus by providing immunizations and other preventative services at no charge to children, age six weeks through 18 years, who are uninsured, Medicaid eligible or Native American.

The program’s nine mobile units have been traveling throughout the state and are expected to provide nearly 9,000 flu vaccinations to Oklahoma children. Immunizations are given on a first come, first served basis. For each child immunized, a parent or guardian must provide current shot records and complete paperwork.

  • Oak Grove Flu Fair, Act Now, 3301 SW 17, 3 to 6 p.m. Nov. 17.

  • NSO- WIC, 3530 N MacArthur Blvd., 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 30.

A-OK Alpaca Blast-Off and A-OK Rose Rock Alpaca Show

CHICKASHA — Alpacas and alpaca enthusiasts, as well as fiber art enthusiasts, gather every year for the A-OK Alpaca Blast-Off. The show will have more than 200 alpacas and be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, at the Grady County Fairgrounds & Event Center, 500 E Choctaw Ave.

Alpacas will be featured in the show ring competition, comprised of classes judging conformation and fleece quality in many categories for both Suri and Huacaya alpacas. As part of the A-OK Rose Rock Alpaca Show, halter and small breeder competitions also will take place.

Watch as our younger participants show their alpacas, as well, in the Youth Competition at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12. New this year, the show also will feature youth judging and exhibition classes. The youth event is sponsored by Tractor Bob of Oklahoma City.

Helpline to offer free nicotine replacement therapy

Oklahomans who want to quit tobacco can now get additional support from the Oklahoma Tobacco Helpline, a program of the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET).

From now through Nov. 30, Oklahomans who register for the helpline’s All Access plan will get at least eight weeks of additional nicotine patches, gum or lozenges. The plan also includes five calls with a quit coach.

Integris Health Medical Group to continue with BCBS of Oklahoma

Integris Health and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK) announced they have reached an agreement for a new contract so current BCBSOK members can continue accessing Integris Health doctors with in-network benefits.

The agreement also adds Arcadia Trails Integris Health Center for Addiction Recovery to certain networks, supporting BCBSOK’s commitment to mental health and addiction recovery. In addition, Integris Health Medical Group has joined BCBSOK’s Value Based Care program, which focuses on improving patient outcomes.
