Monarchs in the Park event returns to Norman

NORMAN — Monarchs in the Park returns 4 p.m. Oct. 2 at Andrews Park, 201 W Daws in Norman, and the Norman Public Library Central, 103 W Acres.

The event will have plant sales, pollinator educational booths, family crafts, vendor booths, food trucks and more. Butterfly and pollinator costumes are encouraged at the admission-free event.

Sara Dykman, author of "Bicycling with Butterflies" and founder of beyondabook.org will talk about her experience of bicycling over 10,000 miles alongside migrating monarchs. Dykman will be available to visit with festival goers following a “Butterfly Parade” at 3 p.m. in the library.

Rose State offers on-campus dental hygiene clinic

MIDWEST CITY — Rose State College's Dental Hygiene Program operates a 12-chair community clinic on campus located in the Allied Dental Education Building, 6301 Tinker Diagonal. The program offers clinical services to the community during the fall and spring academic semesters.

The Dental Hygiene Clinic offers various services, including teeth cleaning, topical fluoride treatment, dental X-rays, preventative patient education, pit and fissure sealant, and general oral health assessments. The services are provided by dental hygiene students while under the supervision of licensed dentists and licensed dental hygienists.

Patients age 13 and older must be screened for health history, and a physician consultation may be necessary before receiving an appointment for services. Children ages three through 12 are not screened and must have a parent or legal guardian present to complete documentation. There is a $10 screening fee for those 13 and older and a $5 fee for children ages three through 12.

Edmond Electric seeks pop-up shops

Edmond — Edmond Electric seeks pop-up shop vendors for Merry Marketplace at Luminance, Edmond Electric’s walk-thru holiday 3-D light display, 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 18 at Mitch Park, 1501 W Covell Road.

Merry Marketplace, an early holiday shopping opportunity featuring 10 pop-up shops at the entrance to the displays will open that same day at 4 p.m. There are 10 spots available on Nov. 18 for interested vendors, and there will be a second event from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 17.

Vendor applications for Merry Marketplace are open at https://edmondlights.com/events with a deadline of Oct. 14 to apply. Vendors will be notified of selection no later than Oct. 18, with rental fees due by Oct. 27. If selected, vendors will be provided tents and free electricity.

World's biggest aquaponics conference coming to OKC

The Aquaponics Association hosts the 11th Annual Aquaponics Conference, themed "Ecosystem for Change OKC 2022" Sept. 30 to Oct. 2, at the Sheraton Hotel, 1 N Broadway Ave.

Aquaponics is an up-and-coming agricultural technology which integrates aquaculture (fish farming) and hydroponics (growing plants without soil) in a symbiotic system.

The conference includes over 50 presentations of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, research, and commercial, community and general growing. There will be interactive breakout discussions, ask-the-expert sessions, panel discussions, vendor showroom, and Saturday night, attendees will enjoy the Annual Aquaponics Banquet.

2022 Rock The Block event planned

Dolese Bros. Co. is hosting its 2022 Rock The Block event 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Dolese Support Services Center located at 8300 N Oklahoma Ave. There will be a quiet hour from 9 to 10 a.m. for children with noise sensitivities.

Rock the Block is a Touch-A-Truck event that is free, family-friendly and open to the public. TV personality Jimmy Houston will be in attendance, along with a variety of construction industry partners displaying vehicles and equipment for kids to interact with, such as concrete pump trucks, loaders, scrapers, backhoes, asphalt laydown machines, rollers, cranes and more.

Founded in 1902, Dolese's commitment to customer service and product quality has helped it grow with more than 60 facilities and over 1,000 employees throughout Oklahoma.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a canned food item to donate to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. Proceeds of a hot dog lunch will benefit The United Way of Central Oklahoma.
