OSU golfer helps team win Arnold Palmer Cup

Oklahoma State’s Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen was instrumental in the International squad’s 33-27 victory over the United States at the Arnold Palmer Cup this weekend at Golf Club de Geneve in Vandoeuvres, Switzerland.

Neergaard-Petersen, who marked OSU’s 23rd representative in the history of the event, reeled off a 3-1 record in the tournament.

After losing Friday’s mixed fourball match against Johnny Keefer and Olivia Mitchell while paired with Chiara Tamburlini, 2-up, the Nivå, Denmark, native would not trail again for the remainder of the weekend. Neergaard-Petersen would lead 39 of the final 48 holes over his final three matches.

Dodgers activate Betts, send two to OKC

Mookie Betts is back in his familiar leadoff and right field spot for the Los Angeles Dodgers after being activated off the injured list before Sunday’s game against the San Diego Padres.

Betts was injured during the first inning against the Los Angeles Angels on June 15 when he collided with Cody Bellinger in the outfield on a fly ball. Betts played the rest of that game but was scratched from the lineup the next two games, before an MRI revealed the cracked rib.

The Dodgers also reinstated left-handed pitcher David Price, who had missed the past three games due to a medical emergency. To make room for Betts and Price, Los Angeles designated right-handed pitcher Ian Gibaut for assignment and optioned infielder Eddy Alvarez to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Extra points

NHL: The Winnipeg Jets announced the hiring of Rick Bowness as their head coach on Sunday after several days of speculation. The 67-year-old Bowness, who becomes the team’s eighth head coach in franchise history and third since the club’s relocation to Winnipeg, began his coaching career with the Jets, culminating in 28 games running the bench to close the 1988–89 season. The former right wing ended his NHL playing career with Winnipeg in the 1982 playoffs. He recently coached the Dallas Stars.
