News from the Thunder as training camp starts - and it's not good.Far from good, actually.Star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee. He will miss the start of training camp, then will be reevaluated in two weeks. The Oklahoman's Thunder beat writer, Joe Mussatto, wrote that while Gilgeous-Alexander's injury is not nearly as serious as the season-ending foot injury suffered by rookie Chet Holmgren, this is another blow for a young Thunder team that will begin the fall without two starters.Mussatto wrote that the knee injury might keep Gilgeous-Alexander from playing in Oklahoma City's season opener on Oct. 19 at Minnesota.

The Thunder made some coaching announcements late last week. Chip Engelland has been officially named an assistant coach, and Grant Gibbs has been moved to assistant after serving the last three years as the OKC Blue's head coach. The addition of Engelland is perhaps the worst-kept NBA secret in town. Long considered as the best shooting coach in the league, he comes over from the San Antonio Spurs as reported by earlier this summer.Replacing Gibbs as the Blue's head coach is Kameron Woods. He has spent the past four seasons with the Thunder organization as an assistant coach. Woods was the Thunder's summer league coach this year.
