The Oklahoman's Thunder beat writer, Joe Mussatto, reports ont how some players on the roster will receive a bonus check of nearly $1 million on top of their regular salaries.

Because the Thunder payroll is under the NBA minimum, the large bonuses go into effect for players who were on roster for 41 or more games.

The Thunder's payroll this past season was about $79 million, about $22 million under the salary floor. The shortfall can be distributed among the players.

Those players who were with the team for less than 41 games will receive smaller shares.

Thunder general manager Sam Presti told The Oklahoman that he would be for an NBA in-season tournament, which is similar to mid-season tournaments in European soccer.

Players on the championship team would receive $1 million each. Presti called the idea, which was first proposed by the league in 2019 a "bold" move.
