OKC Zoo extends discounted admission for SNAP, WIC recipients, foster families

The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden has announced a discount program for local SNAP and WIC recipients will be extended through June 30.

Oklahoma families that show valid photo identification and proof of participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program can receive discounted daytime admission into the zoo. The $3 daytime admission per person through the program can apply to up to four total guests at a time.

Staff said the $3 discount program also applies to families who present valid Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards and tribal WIC cards. Guests with a valid Foster Parent Exclusive Benefits card can get the same discount as well.

The discount program, which started last summer, is the result of the Oklahoma City Zoo's partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.

"We're proud to partner with OKDHS to enhance our access programs and create these new opportunities for Oklahomans to experience the zoo," Dwight Lawson, the Oklahoma City Zoo's executive director and CEO, said in 2022. "The zoo is the ideal destination where families can discover and learn about the world's wildlife and create memories to last a lifetime."

The zoo, located at 2000 Remington Place, is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Children ages 2 and younger are given free admission.
