Oklahoma achievers: Hall of Fame scholarship; OU students receive scholarship
OU College of Dentistry students receive scholarships
Delta Dental of Oklahoma and the Delta Dental of Oklahoma Foundation awarded University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry dental and dental hygiene students who demonstrate academic excellence and a commitment to the community.
Delta Dental and its foundation awarded $10,000 scholarships to ten dental students and $2,000 scholarships to four dental hygiene students at OU.
This year’s scholarship winners are:

In addition to the scholarships, Delta Dental and its foundation provided research stipends to Julia Daughtery, of Stillwater, Rachel Hill, of Yukon, and Katherine Sullivan, of Oklahoma City.

Edmond students place at speech contest
Three Edmond students placed at the American Farmers and Ranchers (AFR) Central District Speech Contest held in Tecumseh.
AFR provides educational, legislative and cooperative programs across the state and serves as a watchdog for Oklahoma’s family farmers and ranchers and rural communities. The annual speech contest is just one of many long-standing youth programs that help foster professionalism and confidence in Oklahoma’s youths.
The students who placed are:
Chance Kennedy placed third in Intermediate Agribusiness.
Guann Nichols placed second in Senior Agriscience.
Bethzy Alvarex placed second in Senior Agribusiness.

12th annual Oklahoma Hall of Fame Scholarship winner announced
Madisyn E. Myers, from Omega, was announced as the winner of the 12th annual Oklahoma Hall of Fame Scholarship. The $6,000 scholarship, awarded over a four-year period, is based on the student’s leadership roles, civic/community involvement, academic achievement and knowledge and pride of the state.
Myers has a 4.0, takes college level courses at Redlands Community College, and has been class president three out of four years at Lomega High School, where she also runs cross country. She is active with the FFA and the Lomega Food Bank, and she founded Beef for the Bank, a nonprofit that has donated more than 1,000 pounds of ground beef to local food banks.
Myers is planning on attending Oklahoma State University and majoring in Nutritional Sciences with a minor in Spanish. She then plans to earn her medical degree at the University of Oklahoma and become a pediatrician serving families in Blaine County.
