Oklahoma native nominated to serve on the US. Circuit Court of Appeals

Oklahoma native Jabari Wamble, assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Kansas, was nominated by President Joe Biden to serve on the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit, based in the Byron White U.S. Courthouse in Denver.

A court of appeals hears challenges to district court decisions from courts located within its circuit, as well as appeals from decisions of federal administrative agencies.

The Tenth Circuit includes the six states of Oklahoma, Kansas, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming and Utah.

Metro-area youths earn Eagle Scout rank

Six metro-area students have earned the rank of Eagle Scout, which is the highest rank within the Boy Scouts of America program.

To earn the Eagle Scout rank, a Boy Scout must fulfill requirements in the areas of outdoor skills, providing service and fulfilling the part of the Scout Oath, “to help other people at all times,” and demonstrate and develop leadership skills.

Eagle Scout rank awarded to:

Matthew Roy Dillard, 14, of Yukon, troop 390 chartered to St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church.

Mathew Edwards, 15, of Yukon, troop 807 chartered to Yukon First United Methodist Church.

Peter Alan DeSplinter, 18, of Mustang, troop 390 chartered to St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, Yukon.

Gabriel Stone, 17, of Midwest City, troop 147, which meets at the Missionary Baptist Church.

Samuel Ross Wilson, 17, of Edmond, troop 94 chartered to Santa Fe Presbyterian Church.

Jansen Kenley Carter, 16, of Edmond, troop 21 chartered to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

OU professor receives an exclusive honor

Emily Jones, OU associate professor and director of the Ph.D. program, has been selected to be a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.

Induction into the Fellowship represents one's accomplishments within the nursing profession, their collective expertise to the academy, engaging with health leaders nationally and globally, and improving health equity by impacting policy through nursing leadership, innovation and science.

The 2022 inductees will be recognized at the academy’s annual conference Oct. 27-29 in Washington, D.C., at the Marriott Marquis.
