Mustang student receives scholarship

MUSTANG — Alex Vo, a senior at Mustang High School, received a $4,000 scholarship to attend a competitive music summer program called Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI) this summer.

During the four week Institute, Alex studied under Boston University faculty and Boston Symphony Orchestra professional members, attended wind ensemble rehearsals with prestigious conductors, performed concerts and recitals with chamber groups, and more.

"Attending BUTI was truly life-changing. I met lifelong friends, learned amazing musical information, watched and listened to a professional orchestra multiple times a week for free, and delved into my love for music even more. I wouldn’t have changed a thing about it.” said Alex Vo.

Rose State College awarded

Midwest City — Rose State College has been awarded for its cyber security program and has been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) in Cyber Defense, a program jointly sponsored by the National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security.

The cyber security courses grant students the opportunity to venture into the world of technology-based protection, gives access to networking and offers experience in how to apply a variety of network technologies in the world today.

Two Heritage Hall students receive recognition

Heritage Hall junior Cole Spence and senior Daniel Yeaman were designated College Board National Hispanic Recognition Award and National African American Recognition Award recipients. The honors are based on academic achievement and outstanding performance.

The College Board, which administers the PSAT and SAT among its activities, recognizes academic excellence through its National Recognition Programs. These programs help students from underrepresented backgrounds stand out to colleges during admissions.
