Oklahoma City metro-area churches are gearing up for one of the most important holy days on the Christian calendar — Christmas, the day Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Take a stroll through the streets of Bethlehem at one annual event or view scenes from Jesus' life as part of a popular drive-thru pageant.

Here are some church-sponsored holiday experiences planned in the coming weeks. Events are free unless otherwise noted.

Drive through the holidays. Edmond Boys Ranch Town Drive-Thru Christmas Pageant will be 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 2-4 at 5100 E 33rd, Edmond. The staff and resident of Boys Ranch Town are preparing for the annual drive-thru Christmas pageant that has become so popular in the Oklahoma City metro area. Many of the actors in the pageant are residents of Boys Ranch Town. Sing a song of Christmas. Get a head start on the festivities at "Let The Celebration Begin/A Taste of Christmas" set for 6 p.m. Dec. 4 at Williams Church of the Nazarene, 6900 NW 50 in Bethany. The Christmas concert will feature Mark Reighard. For more information, go to https://www.facebook.com/williamsnazarene.

See it from a child's point of view. Children may experience the story of Jesus’ birth with a live Nativity play during "The Real Christmas Story" set for 5 p.m. Dec. 4 at Crossings Community Church, 14600 N Portland. Find out more information about this event designed for families with young children at https://crossings.church/info.

Stroll through the streets of Bethlehem. Visit United Methodist Church of the Servant, which will be transformed into the streets of Bethlehem on that first Christmas night more than 2,000 years ago. "A Walk Through Bethlehem" will be offered 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 9-10 and 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 11 at the church, 14343 N MacArthur. Church leaders said the event is a special way to share the story of the birth of Jesus, with an interactive village bazaar, petting zoo at the Royal Stables, King David's Inn and, of course, the Nativity. Council Road Baptist Church, 7903 NW 30, Bethany, will host its two-day "Christmas at The Cube" from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 9 and 10 at the church's activity center called The Cube. The event will feature a bonfire and s'more, a petting zoo, karaoke, bounce houses, games, snowball fights a photo booth and live music. A Christmas concert will be at 7 p.m. each day in the church's auditorium, highlighting school choirs, percussionists, musicians, local youth dance troupes and youth drama teams joining Council Road Baptist’s orchestra and band. Guests will be able to purchase food from food trucks that will be on hand.
