“It’s the family atmosphere. The food is good. It’s just a very close knit group, and I’ve come to appreciate that,” customer Bob Benham said.

Hope Tipton owns Good Gravy. Karen Wood works at the popular breakfast and lunch spot on the weekends. Karen nominated Hope for Pay It 4Ward because of her caring nature especially to those in need.

During the most recent snow storm, Hope invited a man and his dog inside the restaurant out of the cold and fed them both. They had nowhere to take shelter.

“That just touched my heart, and she needed to be recognized for it. So I nominated her,” Karen said.

“We are so moved by Hope’s kindness and her stewardship of the community. We want to give you 400 dollars to pay it forward,” said Valerie Jury of First Fidelity Bank.

“We always do it. Anyone who is around the neighborhood. and they’re homeless, we always feed them. And this day was very cold. I think it was snowing, and I didn’t even know he was out there. He’d come in and was sitting in the foyer, and a customer had mentioned to me that there was a guy with a dog sitting out there,” Hope said. “We are just surrounded by beautiful people.”

And really good gravy.
