An Oklahoma City man who shot and stabbed his ex-girlfriend in a hospital parking garage was sentenced this week to life in federal prison.

Robert Lee Harrison Jr., 50, was previously found guilty by a federal jury of illegal possession of ammunition, kidnapping, carjacking, and use and discharge of a firearm during a carjacking.

Harrison’s ex-girlfriend testified that on March 11, 2022, he forced her into her car at gunpoint as she left work at the Integris Baptist Medical Center parking garage in Oklahoma City.

Prosecutors said Harrison confined her in the car and repeatedly punched her before she escaped.

Harrison then caught her in the elevator lobby of the parking garage, where he shot her eight times before he fled, prosecutors said.

Oklahoma City police officers arrested Harrison the next day, after a brief foot chase.

At the sentencing hearing, U.S. District Judge Stephen P. Friot noted that it was “miraculous” the woman survived.
