Oklahoma City was named one of the best cities for tacos in America. See where it ranks
Clever, a real estate data company, recently named the nation's best taco cities and Oklahoma City came in at No. 12.
The site looked at the number of taco places per 100,000 residents in a city, yelp ratings, cost and affordability of taco supplies, restaurants per square mile and more. A special category called "taco passion" also was calculated based on Google Trends scores for 23 taco-related terms, including “tacos,” “tacos near me,” “taco recipe,” “taco truck,” “Taco Tuesday,” etc.
Why is Oklahoma City one of the best places in America for tacos?
Oklahoma City ranked 12th by having 3.7 taco restaurants per 100,000 residents, higher than the national average of 2.3, and the same number as Los Angeles. The cost of taco ingredients in Oklahoma City is also more than $4 less than the national average at $19.99, compared to $24.28.
Oklahoma City's taco passion score was a 69, while the national average was just a 61.7.
Turns out we were on to something back in April when The Oklahoman's staff and readers weighed in and told us about some of the best places across town to get tacos. The result was a blend of places ranging from traditional and authentic, to modern and eclectic. Then, even more readers added to the list and that left us with a list of spots for top-notch tacos in the metro.
