Oklahoma deputy shoots and kills man after he struck another deputy

A Pushmataha County, Oklahoma sheriff shot and killed a man after he struck a fellow deputy with his vehicle following a pursuit.

At around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, deputies pulled over a man during a traffic stop in the rural southeastern Oklahoma, near Antlers. During the stop, the unidentified driver fled along with the female passenger in the vehicle, leading to a pursuit.

The pursuit continued for many miles until the driver finally stopped the vehicle. While officers attempted to take the suspect out of the car, he tried to flee the scene again but ended up striking a deputy, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

A deputy responded by shooting the man who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deputy who was struck did not sustain any life-threatening injuries.

The OSBI said that they are investigating the incident and withheld the name of the deceased until his family has been notified.
