Oklahoma fall concert guide includes Carrie Underwood, Reba, Post Malone and more

From the big arenas to the listening rooms, Oklahoma's fall concert calendar is so booked, it's impossible to list more than just the anticipated highlights.

Among those highlights is the debut of a promising new venue: The Trading Post at The Canebrake in Wagoner.

"It used to be a horse barn back in the day ... so we've just taken all that out and made it an open venue right now. It's right next to an old 1800s trading post," said Doug Jackson, the owner of the newly reopened Canebrake resort, spa and restaurant.

"It overlooks pretty much all of our 310 acres on the property ... so it's a beautiful outdoor setting."

In August, Jackson reopened the world-class resort, which closed abruptly in 2016, and live music is one of the additions he plans to make to the beloved yet secluded getaway.

"Our target audience is a little bit different than it would be for our main facility. ... It's more family oriented: We're going to have outdoor games, and it's pet friendly. We'll probably even have a dog park set aside there, and we're going to serve food and drinks," Jackson said.

"We're trying to put in some amenities, facilities, events and what-have-you to attract folks into our hotel."

The first concert at The Trading Post at The Canebrake will combine two Red Dirt music staples: Mike McClure and the Red Dirt Rangers, who came together for a last-minute show at Okemah's summer Woody Guthrie Folk Festival and enjoyed it so much they decided to do a few more.

"We go back 35 years ... and we'd never done a billed show together. Then when we finally did it, it was like, 'Whoa,' and people were just amazed," said Red Dirt Ranger John Cooper.

"And The Canebrake, that facility, I had forgotten how beautiful it is. ... I'm glad to see it reopen. It's a great spot."
