Oklahoma Family Buy Former Neighbors a Car

Oklahoma resident Dax Perrier captured video of the moment he surprised his former neighbors at their home in Tulsa with a new minivan on November 5. Perrier was able to purchase the car after organizing a fundraiser to help the family.

Perrier told Storyful he became friendly with the family of eight after they moved from Florida to a duplex in Tulsa next to where Perrier was living at the time. The family tragically lost their mother and father over a short period of time and the oldest siblings took on the responsibility of raising their younger siblings.

“Little by little we got to know them more and more,” said Perrier. “The younger brother Lewis is the same age as my little brother so, naturally, we connected well. Once our home was built we moved away and I still kept up with Lewis.”

Perrier learned the family’s only car had been taken away and he and his wife created a Facebook donation page to generate funds for a new vehicle and donated 500 dollars themselves.

Within 48 hours, the Perriers raised 4700 dollars which was enough money to buy the family a 2007 Honda Odyssey minivan with extra cash for the vehicle registration tags and groceries, according to reports. Credit: Dax Perrier via Storyful
