Scouting Nebraska

Record: 1-2 (0-0 Big Ten)

Best player: Texas transfer and Oklahoma City native Casey Thompson runs the show in Lincoln. The junior quarterback had his best game as a Cornhusker during last week's loss to Georgia Southern. Thompson threw for 318 yards and one touchdown on 23-for-34 passing, and he ran for 31 yards and another three scores.

The case for Nebraska: Nebraska in the middle of a transition with interim head coach Mickey Joseph now at the helm, but a motivated team can be a dangerous one. Thompson is expected to let it fly, and he has a few receiving options in juniors Trey Palmer and Marcus Washington. Still, a lack of pressure from Nebraska's defensive line, which only has two sacks through the first three games, and an overall lack of team discipline will make it hard to pull off the upset.

The case for Oklahoma: OU handled adversity well in the second half against Kent State. The offensive line settled in, which allowed running backs Eric Gray and Marcus Major to get going. Quarterback Dillon Gabriel also fed the ball to wide receiver Marvin Mims, who recorded a career-high 163 receiving yards to go along with two touchdowns. OU's defense also set the tone, and linebacker Danny Stutsman led the way with a career-high 12 tackles (four for loss). If that version of OU shows up to Lincoln on Saturday, the team should have no problem coming out with a win.
