An Oklahoma man was arrested for allegedly selling fake Pokémon cards via Craigslist, months after authorities opened the case, WRAL News reports.

Michael McCoy is facing four counts of false pretense under $1,000, according to the outlet.

McCoy allegedly scammed hopefuls in several states out of $12,000 before he was nabbed during a trip to the post office to mail the cards, the outlet reports.

Residents of several states including Arizona, Colorado, Ohio and Texas fell victim to McCoy’s operation, according to WRAL News.

A tipster from Hawaii who paid McCoy $3,000 for one of the cards, reached out to Tulsa authorities who then worked alongside Nintendo Corporation to verify the counterfeit status of the items.

That individual worked in tandem with authorities to trick the accused con artist into selling yet another would-be Pokémon card, leading to McCoy’s detention.
