Oklahoma man sentenced in marijuana grow homicide case

An Okmulgee woman was sentenced to life in prison for killing two of her children.

An Ada man has been sentenced to more than 18 years in federal prison for a homicide on Chickasaw Nation land.

On July 18, 2019, Jimmy Louis Northcutt broke into a commercial marijuana grow operation in Pontotoc County and shot to death Brian Doherty, 31.

On April 7, 2022, Northcutt pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder in Indian Country.

Last week in federal court, Chief Judge Ronald A. White of the Eastern District of Oklahoma sentenced Northcutt to 222 months in federal prison.

The investigation was conducted by the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Office, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
