An Oklahoma man is wanted for "brutally killing" a puppy — an act that was caught on camera, authorities said.

In a video posted to social media on Tuesday, April 9, the Oklahoma City Police Department said it was searching for an unidentified male that is suspected of killing the young canine after a local business owner found the animal's body on their property.

"Last week, Animal Welfare Officers were called to the 3700 block of South Missouri — this is in the area of Southeast Grand I-35 — in reference to a woman who had come to work, checked her surveillance video and found something very disturbing," MSgt. Jennifer Wardlow said.

The woman, whose name was not disclosed by the police, "checked their surveillance cameras and saw that a man actually carried this puppy down the street. He was holding the puppy by its back legs," Wardlow continued, adding that the animal, which was still alive at this point, could be seen "dragging on the ground."

The master sergeant added that the video then showed the dog trying to get away before the man began "to smash the puppy's head with his foot… attempting to hurt or kill this dog." After the attack, Wardlow said that he "just turns and walks away."

She added, "This is a very dangerous individual."

Wardlow explained that they released the footage online in an attempt to "identify the person." Even though "it's a nighttime video," they "believe it's good enough that someone might recognize him and help us solve the case."

On Facebook and X (formerly known as Twitter), the police asked that anyone who had information about the crime to alert the police, adding that tips "can be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers [at] 405.235.7300/www.okccrimetips.com."
