Oklahoma Prep Football AP Poll: Verdigris, Sequoyah rise going into Week 10

Nov. 2—Verdigris and Sequoyah are playing their best football as the end of the regular season nears, and that excellence was rewarded in this week's AP poll.

The Cardinals, fresh off scoring the most points in school history in a 74-6 win over Dewey, rose one spot to No. 3 in Class 3A. They close the regular season Thursday night against winless Inola and will clinch the District 3A-4 title with a win.

Elsewhere, the Eagles also jumped one spot to No. 6 in Class 2A after surviving then-No. 9 Vinita 22-21. The Hornets remained in the top 10 despite the loss, falling to 10th.

Sequoyah travels to 1-8 Caney Valley on Thursday having already secured the 2-seed out of District 2A-8.

Claremore Progress sports editor Kevin Green is one of several voters in the weekly Oklahoma Prep Football AP Poll.
