Oklahoma ranks 11th in most unstable foster care systems in the US

State and private foster care agencies have seen a 34% decrease in individuals and families open to fostering in Oklahoma. Meanwhile, the need for placements continues to rise.

Advocates for foster care say more than 6,500 children are in state custody at any time during the year.

Because of this, Oklahoma ranks 11th among the worst states in foster care instability.
