Oklahoma Sooners snap longest losing streak since 1998 & more key stats vs. Kansas

NORMAN — The Sooners snapped their three-game losing streak on Saturday.

OU earned a 52-42 win over No. 19-ranked Kansas at Owen Field. The Sooners (4-3, 1-3 Big 12) never trailed and earned their first conference win of the season.

Here's a look at OU's win by the numbers.

Dillon Gabriel's return revives OU's offense

8: OU saw the return of redshirt junior quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who wears No. 8. It marked his first time playing since he exited the team's Week 5 loss to TCU and entered concussion protocol.

14: OU only scored 14 points while Gabriel was out due to injury. The Sooners matched that total with 7:13 left in the first quarter when Eric Gray ran for a two-yard touchdown to give them a 14-7 lead.

2: OU scored touchdowns on back-to-back drives for the first time since its Week 4 game against Kansas State on Sept. 24.

3: Kansas went 2-for-3 on third down in the first quarter. It converted a third-down attempt on each of its two touchdown drives to tie the game at 14-14.

OU's defense picks up momentum in the second quarter

1: After going 2-for-3 on third down in the first quarter, Kansas only went 1-for-3 on third down in the second quarter.

5: Redshirt senior defensive back C.J. Coldon made a one-handed interception with 7:40 left in the second quarter. This marked the Sooners' fifth interception of the season.

21: OU scored 21 unanswered points to take a 35-14 lead. Gray capped the scoring spree off with a 28-yard touchdown run with 2:40 left until halftime.

2: OU opted to not kick a field goal with two seconds left at Kansas' 1-yard line. It instead gave a handoff to Jovantae Barnes, who got stopped as time expired. The Sooners took a 35-21 lead into halftime.

OU keeps rolling in the second half

1: DaShaun White intercepted a pass on Kansas' first drive of the third quarter. This marked the veteran linebacker's first career interception.

20: Gabriel threw an interception with 6:49 left in the third quarter. This marked the redshirt junior quarterback's first interception of the season, snapping a streak of 20 quarters without one.

403: Gabriel went 29-for-42 through the air for a season-high 403 yards to go along with three total touchdowns. He also recorded three turnovers.

176: Gray ran for a season-high 176 yards on 20 carries. This marks the most rushing yards in a game by the senior since he recorded 246 yards on 25 carries against Vanderbilt on Dec. 30, 2019.

52: OU earned a 52-42 victory. This marks the most points scored by the Sooners in a game this season.

1998: OU snapped its three-game losing streak with the victory. It was the team's longest losing streak since 1998.
