Oklahoma State men's basketball vs. Virginia Tech: How to watch, TV channel, radio

After a grind-it-out victory in a must-win situation, Oklahoma State’s path back to the NCAA Tournament makes a quick stop in Brooklyn.

The Cowboys (6-3) face Virginia Tech (9-1, 1-0 ACC) at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Basketball Hall of Fame Invitational at Barclays Center.

It’s a place very familiar to the Cowboys.

OSU is 3-1 in head coach Mike Boynton’s hometown. The last two victories came in a dominant NIT Preseason Tournament win in 2019.

Assistant coach Terrence Rencher is from The Bronx and attended Saint Raymond’s High. New video coordinator Kris Quintana is from Staten Island and graduate assistant James Barrett attended Bishop Loughlin High with Boynton.

Even star center Moussa Cisse played high school basketball in New York and nearby New Jersey.

But the return to Brooklyn won’t be easy. Virginia Tech is an impressive offensive team led by former Edmond Memorial star Sean Pedulla.

Here is a quick look at what you need to know about Sunday's matchup:

Three things to know about OSU vs. Virginia Tech

• Moussa Cisse enters the game with 30 blocks, which easily leads the Big 12. It also ranks third nationally. The 7-foot-1 junior has such a big advantage entering the weekend on the conference leaderboard that combining the totals of Texas Tech’s Daniel Batcho (second) and OU’s Tanner Groves (third), they would total just 27 blocks.

• Virginia Tech averages 77.1 points per game and is ranked 16th in adjusted offensive efficiency on KenPom.com. OSU — ranked 26th in adjusted defensive efficiency — has allowed just 62.3 points per game and has held opponents to less than 30 points in six of its last eighth halves.

• Virginia Tech is coached by Mike Young, who was the longtime head coach at Wofford, where Boynton was an associate head coach in the 2007-08 season. Boynton considers Young one of his best friends.
